Dedicated to revealing the inherently complex and dynamic qualities of street and club dance forms such as breaking, hip hop, house and vogue, Ephrat Asherie Dance is “paving the way for something new” (The New York Times). A 2018 recipient of Dance Magazine’s Harkness Promise Award, Ephrat Asherie’s newest work is “Odeon,” a collaboration with her brother and jazz musician- Ehud Asherie, is a high-energy, hybrid work that layers dance to the buoyant score of 20th-century Brazilian composer Ernesto Nazareth, played live. Featuring seven dancers and four musicians, Odeon brings together the extended legacies of street and club styles and remixes them into an evening of dance that is “a nonstop celebration” (Times Union).
